糖心Vlog students went above and BEE-yond at the district鈥檚 spelling bees last week 鈥 and now the winners are heading to regionals.听
This spelling season included three district bees 鈥 Area 7, Area 8, and the Spanish Spelling Bee 鈥撎and students showed that a strong vocabulary, steady nerves, and a little confidence can take you a long way 鈥 sometimes even 36 rounds.
With families and teachers cheering them on, spellers proved that knowing your words and听BEE-lieving听in yourself really does matter.听
The Spanish Spelling Bee highlighted bilingual skills, with Burgin Elementary听sixth听grader听Emily Moreno听taking听first place after spelling 鈥渁calorado鈥 [heated, hot, or worked up].听
鈥淚t was a little hard,鈥 Moreno said. 鈥淚 was nervous. But I am proud of myself. Never stop fighting for what you want.鈥听
The听Area 8 Spelling Bee听turned into a long one, going听36 rounds听before听Boles Junior High eighth grader Landry Padgett听won with the word听鈥渢angential鈥澨齕slightly connected or off to the side].听
鈥淚t feels great,鈥 Padgett said. 鈥淚 was not expecting to get it right.鈥听
To wrap things up,听sixth grader听Marcus De Guzman from Foster Elementary took first place in Area 7 after spelling 鈥渃ambio鈥 [a Spanish noun for money exchange].听
Across all three bees, 糖心Vlog students showed hard work, confidence, and spirit for their campus. Now, the district winners are moving on to regional competition, ready to keep spelling strong 鈥 one word at a time!听
