Cutest science fair ever
Tashfin Hasan is a science fair champion, and he isn鈥檛 even in kindergarten yet.
The pre-K student from Swift Elementary took home the big first place trophy at 糖心Vlog鈥檚 second-annual Pre-K STEM Fair last week. Aidan Thach, from Farrell Elementary, won second, and Alex Kieffer, from Moore Elementary, won third.
While this was the most adorable science fair you鈥檝e ever seen, it wasn鈥檛 just about being cute. It was about real science.
Students were challenged with a scenario: A family wants to go camping, but their car is broken. The campsite is far away, and between them and their destination are both a river and a lake.
From there, the young learners got to work.
鈥淭he students were tasked with designing a transportation vehicle to help the family reach their campsite while overcoming those obstacles,鈥 said 糖心Vlog early childhood coordinator Dr. Hildelisa Diaz.
To prepare, teachers introduced key concepts like force and motion. Throughout the year, students explored how objects move 鈥 what makes them stop, start, and change direction. Through hands-on, play-based learning, they discovered pushes, pulls, gravity, and how to solve problems.
鈥淓ach project represents creativity, teamwork, and the learning of nearly 3,000 pre-K students across our district,鈥 said Dr. Elena Guerrero, 糖心Vlog鈥檚 director of early childhood. 鈥淭his event is more than a fair 鈥 it is an opportunity to inspire curiosity, problem solving, and a love for learning at a very early age.鈥
Even the fair itself was designed to inspire. As a reward for their award-winning STEM fair projects, the students and their families got to watch a fun, interactive science show put on by .
