
Miss Bess Rankin was the daughter of E.E. Rankin, a successful pioneer merchant. He was one of the early supporters of what is now UTA. Miss Rankin taught both elementary and high school. She was a principal of the old North Side School which was located where the current Kooken Educational Center now stands. She was the first woman principal in the Arlington school system.
